The Six Scenarios Compared to the OECD Scenarios

The Six Scenarios Compared to the OECD Scenarios

Some of the six scenarios here bear a strong resemblance to ones developed by the Organization for Economic and Cooperative Development (OECD), particularly the “de-schooling” ones. The resemblance is coincidental, since I developed the scenarios in early 2010 before learning about the OECD ones. The main difference is that the scenarios I propose are designed to describe various prospects for how cyberized education will improve it:

OECD Scenario Six Scenarios
ATTEMPTING TO MAINTAIN THE STATUS QUO:
Scenario 1.a: "Bureaucratic School Systems Continue"
Scenario 1.b "Teacher exodus - The 'meltdown scenario'"

(Steady As She Goes)
(Cyberdystopia)
2. RE-SCHOOLING:
Scenario 2.a "Schools as Core Social Centres"
Scenario 2.b "Schools as Focused Learning Organisations"

(New and Improved - sort of)
3. DE-SCHOOLING:
Scenario 3.a "Learning Networks and the Network Society"
Scenario 3.b "Extending the Market Model"

~ Free Learning Rules
~ Free Market Rules
l Improvement Scenarios:
New and Improved
Quantum Leap
